Hello everyone! I hope you’ve been having a fantastic week so far.

Sometimes inspiration hits every day. We sit down for our writing session, and our fingers fly over the keys with all the great info zooming around our heads. Characters take on life-like forms. Dialogue becomes so emotional that we are crying ourselves as we write. The action is breathtakingly exciting…We don’t want to stop our writing session when the timer goes off.
Then, the next day starts. We sit down at to write, running our fingers over the keys. Nothing…We can’t think of anything to write about. We plunk out some words, getting more frustrated by the minute.
Finally, we shut our computers, (or close our notebooks), and do something else. We tell ourselves, “Tomorrow. Tomorrow the inspiration will hit. Then I’ll actually get to write something!”
The next day rolls around…The same thing. We can’t think of anything to write. For the rest of the week, we fell frustrated and fall into the thinking pattern of, “I’ll wait until inspiration hits. Then I’ll be able to write.”
The point of my autobiographical story above is this…
We cannot rely on inspiration to hit every day. It’s just not realistic to think some great story idea is going to float into our brains each and every day.
That’s why routine is so important!
Routine not only keeps us on track of what we’re working on but forces us to work on it every day,
We can’t always wait for inspiration to hit…We need to keep writing so that we can finish the books and stories that we want to see completed and possibly published.
Writing routines can look different for different people.
Writing can be done in the morning, afternoon, or evening!… It depends on the person. The key is to create a routine for yourself so that you can work up to the last sentence of your story!
For me, my writing routine is in the morning for about an hour an a half. I split my certain types of writing up throughout the week.
Monday – Work on my WIP
Tuesday – Write my blog post for Wednesday/and sometimes I work on some other sort of writing that needs to be finished but that isn’t directly related to my blog/WIP
Wednesday – Work on my WIP
Thursday – Work on my WIP
Friday – Write my next Echoes of Honor story part
Saturday – Look over my Echoes of Honor story part to fix any typos, then publish it on my blog.
Sunday – Sometimes I write for fun…such as using pictures for story prompts, or story ideas, but usually I take a break from writing!

How about you? What’s your writing routine like?
Remember…Don’t always wait for inspiration to hit! Keep writing!
~ Laura (A friend of mine suggested I come up with a pen-name? I have no idea what it would be. Do any of you have pen-names? =)
Great post! I’m currently editing my newest WIP, so my writing routine is a little off, lol!
Pen names…Stacy Alexander, Josephine Harper, Kayleigh Jones…idk. I use my first and middle name as my signature, but my full name goes on my books.
Oooh, a new WIP!
Those are some neat names! Stacy Alexander sounds like an old fashion writer! Reminds me of a name Anne from Green Gables would use! 😀
Yes! Oh, I love Anne…except for Gilbert, lol! I only know one other person who dislikes him, haha!
Annie is my pen name, lol! 😉 Just for blogging, though! Anna is my author and usual name! 😂 Great tips! I usually don’t follow a schedule and just write in spurts, but I like the idea. 😂 I need to get started on my novel, so thanks for these inspiration and schedule tips!
Cool!
The thing with the name Laura is that you can’t come up with too many nicknames. 😀
Aw, glad this was inspirational for you! 🙂
I totally agree that we shouldn’t just wait for inspiration to hit.
Yes! 🙂
@Julia – By the way, did you change your blog? I no longer receive updates from your site.
@Ryana – Noooo! You can’t hate Gilbert! This is a sad day indeed! *tears* 🙂
OOh!! This was really good!! And so helpful!! I have come to realize, you can’t wait for inspirations.
Glad you found this post informative Parker!
😀
Great post! I need to work on doing better at not waiting for inspiration to hit.
A. Kaylee Harrison is my pen name, taken from my first initial, my middle name and lengthened my last name.
That pen name sounds professional!
Thanks for reading the post! 🙂
Thanks!
I really enjoy your posts! 😀
You’re new pen name is Dolly Eaterson!! IKR it’s perfect🤣!
Okay…You are one silly sister! ❤
Thanks for reading the post!
What a great post, Laura!! I used to sign off some poems using the name “joyful”. 😀 Maybe you could take part of your name and add to it or cut it down to use as a pen name. Or do you have any really random nicknames your family or friends have given you? Oh, you could use a name from the Bible, like someone you aspire to be like. I think your name is beautiful by the way. 🙂
Those are some good ideas, Amanda!
Aw, joyful! 🙂
I’ll have to think about it. My sister has some nicknames for me but they are all very silly!
Thanks for taking the time to read the post and comment!
Could your pen name be a play off your red hair?
That’s an idea! 🙂
This is a great post, Laura!!! I really enjoyed it! 🙂
Thanks, Rosy! I have been blessed by so many people reading this post!
Is your story coming out today?!
Lol!! I love reading your story every Saturday! That’s why I ask!😂👍🏻😉
Hi Molly!
I did plan to post Pt. 13 today, but something came up. I might be able to post it Monday morning as a special post though so be on the lookout for it. 🙂
Thanks for asking. 🙂
