Echoes of Honor Pt. 14 “My Hope is Dying”
Hey everyone! A second post in one day! Wow!
Today’s Echoes of Honor Pt. is pretty short, but I hope you still enjoy it!
I also want to give a shout out to a friend named Molly! She is a huge encouragement with keeping me on track each Saturday with Echoes of Honor! 😀 Thanks!

“We’re leaving the end of this week for Berlin?” Philippe stood up from the table, leaving most of his dinner uneaten.
“You have a problem with that?” Karl asked, taking a long swallow of his water.
Philippe exchanged a look with Sophie. She was right. If Karl knew of his plan to get his sister out of Berlin, he would try to stop them…He’d go on about how dangerous it was.
Philippe didn’t care about the danger. He cared about his sweet sister Marie.
“No,” Philippe replied, sitting back down and trying to find an appetite to eat.
At least a few weeks would have given him time to map out a coherent plan for rescuing his sister.
Philippe heard Sophie sigh.
“Karl, aren’t you ever going to trust Philippe and I enough to tell us what your plans are? How long have you known that the meeting with the Resistance leaders was changed?”
Philippe wanted to ask the same. He wasn’t a child anymore, and it felt like Wilhelm and Karl were always keeping things from them.
“You’ll know what you need to know when the time comes, Sophie.”
Wilhelm cleared his throat. “Karl, she has a point. They aren’t kids.”
Philippe saw Karl tense, and a look passed between the older boys.
“I know they’re not kids. There are just some things that need to be kept secret.” Karl got up from the table and went to stand by the window.
“You okay, Karl?” Philippe joined him. “You seem upset about something.”
Karl hung his head. “I saw David today.”
Sophie leaped up from her chair. “Where?”
There was silence for several moments.
“With the soldiers in town.”
“What!” Sophie nearly knocked over her chair to get over to Karl. “He went to join the same kind of men who killed his family?” Her dark eyebrows furrowed.
“David’s troubled Sophie. He probably doesn’t even know what he’s doing.”
Philippe rubbed his forehead. He was so tired of all this. When would life go back to normal? Philippe’s hope for rescuing his sister was starting to die.
