Christmas Time is Here… ❄️

Hi, Everyone!

Merry Christmas!!!  I can’t believe I’m saying that.  Christmas sort of snuck up on me this year. 😀 Autumn flew past and before I knew it, I was buying gifts and helping my family pick out a Christmas tree.

I love this time of year.  The beautiful lights, the special Christmas movies, and the joyous anticipation of Christmas Eve and Christmas Day!  There are so many wonderful feelings that come with this wonderful holiday.  Not only do we celebrate being together and exchanging gifts, but we remember that God’s promises were fulfilled on that night in Bethlehem when the Savior of the world came as a helpless babe.  When I sit and think about what that night was like, I marvel.  God came to us.

Just as we celebrate each other’s birthday in amazing ways, we should celebrate Christ’s birthday in huge proportions!  Spend time with family, decorate, exchange gifts, eat a lot of delicious food, and thank God for all His blessings.

Speaking of decorating, our family went tree hunting last Thursday.  The fun part was, we didn’t just go look for a tree, but took the whole day to spend together as a family…(Only my brother was missing.  Thankfully he’s coming up for Christmas!)  Our parents took us to a coffee shop where we had breakfast and…well, coffee. 🥳

We went to a thrift store and of course…I left with the most bags of clothes…It is sorta dangerous taking me into a discount store, where I can get cute clothes for half the price!  I found some great stuff.  We also made a quick stop at a shoe store where we got sneakers, dad got some hiking boots, and mom picked out a pair of dressy boots she totally deserved! My mom hasn’t had a new pair of boots in forever.  I loved seeing her get a pair.  It made me so happy!

After a day around the town, we finally went to pick out our Christmas tree.  I must be getting old or something because when we got to the tree farm, I was more interested in taking photos than tree hunting.😉

Christmas Tree Living-Room - Laura Pic

Tree in the living-room…

We found the perfect tree in record time.  After we got in loaded onto our minivan, we took it home.  Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to help set it up because my mom and I had to run into town.  While we were gone, the rest of the family put it up and wrapped white lights around it.  When we got back, we had supper than decorated the tree, and watched a movie!  It was a wonderful day.

On Sunday, I went to the store to get some last-minute gift wrapping supplies to I could get all my presents wrapped.  I got some really beautiful ribbon.

I wanted different colors or ribbon because this year I planned to color code people’s gifts.

The gifts for my family all wrapped up!

Speaking of wrapping gifts, I promised a while ago I would show you all some of the special ways I put together my gift wrapping.

Wrapping GIfts #10 - Laura Pic

  1. I put the gift into a box or wrap it in a layer of tissue paper before using recycled bags for the outer gift wrap.

2. I used to use hot glue to close the wrapping paper but I was almost out.  I used tape instead.  Unfourtuanly this kind of tape doesn’t stick well to paper bags, so I had to double up at times.

3. Fully wrapped gift…Looks kind of plain doesn’t it?

4. This is the fun part!  Using hot glue to attach ribbon or other things onto the gift.  Don’t you just love this snowflake ribbon? (Quick trick…Don’t wrap the ribbon the entire way around the package!  Just glue one end to the bottom of the package and the other end on the other side.  You save on ribbon that way!)

4. To keep the package front beautiful, make sure to write the name of the person receiving the gift and who it is from on the back.

5. I added some light blue tulle for more decoration.  You can also use ribbon or bows to make the package look more complete.

6. Here is one of the best ways to decorate a gift!  Use Epsom salts and glitter for a snowy look on your packages.  Just coat the part of the gift you want to decorate with a thin layer of glue and sprinkle Epsom salts, and glitter all over the glue.  Warning—It is a little messy so make sure you don’t mind glitter or Epsom salts on the table or floor. 😀

8. Here are some of the supplies I started with.  I didn’t use everything but I still have a few presents to wrap, so I’m sure I’ll get the chance!

9. You can also draw on your packages to give them more personality!  Some people might think I spend way too long wrapping presents, but it is part of the gift!  The wrapping is half the fun of giving someone a present!

And while you are wrapping your gifts and listening to your Christmas music, treat yourself to a delicious wintertime beverage!  Candy Cane Hot Chocolate.

Pepperming Hot Chocolate Diplay #3 - Laura Pic

Ingredients –

  • Real milk
  • Hot chocolate powder
  • Candy Cane

Directions –

  1. Pour the milk into a mug of your choice.
  2. Heat it up in the microwave for about 2 minutes, (or you could do this in a saucepan on the stove).
  3. Take the milk out of the microwave and test it to see how hot it is.  Microwave it for another minute if it isn’t warm enough.
  4. Once the milk is as hot as you want, add your hot chocolate powder and stir.
  5. Take the wrapping off the Candy Cane and place it in your hot chocolate.  You can use a whole Candy Cane or half of one.  An entire Candy Cane will give you a more peppermint flavor than half of one will.
  6. Enjoy your peppermint chocolate treat!

  1. We have a live tree at the plantation where I work during Christmas! My dream is that on my first Christmas when I get married for us to get a real tree. We have too many allergies in this family for me to have one here, lol! Maybe someday XD Merry Christmas!

    1. That sounds really cool!
Yeah, real trees are great! Allergies are tough. Hopefully, you’ll be able to make your dream come true one day. 🙂

  2. Your presents look gorgeous! I’ve already wrapped most of mine for this year, but I am definitely filing this idea away to use next year! Also, your tree pictures are so good, and I’m glad you had such a fun time with your family!

    1. Thank you, Jana!
I know, I wanted to do this post earlier because I knew most people probably already had their gifts wrapped. Oh well! 🙂

  3. I HAVEN’T WRAPPED ALL MY GIFTS BUt I don’t have enough patience for that… 😂 Yours are so pretty though!! That’s honestly quite the skill. And do I spy a Notgrass book… 😂

  4. Those packages are really pretty! I am really behind (I’m not finished with gifts and I haven’t even started wrapping!). I say this every year, but I really feel like Christmas came faster than usual this year!!
We went to a Christmas tree farm the other day too and got a tree! They are really pretty!
    Merry Christmas!!!

    1. Thank you for the kind comment, Laura. 🙂
Christmas did seem to come upon us by surprise this year! 🙂
