Hi, everyone! I am so excited about today. Kassie Angle, a dear blogging/author friend of mine is publishing her third novel! – Stop the Rain. You can read my review below but guys, this isn’t a book you should pass up. This story is so beautiful and heartbreaking that you will never be the same after reading it!
About Stop the Rain
He left his entire world in Iraq. So why did the war follow him home?
Harley Keane and his best friend Nigel were just kids when 9/11 rocked their world and changed their lives forever. When they’re finally old enough to join the Army, all their childhood dreams seem about to come true. But war wasn’t supposed to be like this. A kid’s dream isn’t supposed to become a living nightmare. Fellow soldiers aren’t supposed to bleed out in front of your eyes.
Back home, safe and unwounded, Harley feels anything but. Why would God spare him when so many others were taken? Why won’t the nightmares stop, even when he’s awake? And how long can he hide the truth that threatens everything he has left? When Harley’s invisible scars refuse to stay hidden, will he let anyone close enough to help? And how do you go on with life when “okay” isn’t okay at all?
ABOUT KASSIE ANGLE
Kassie Angle is a teenaged Christian author, cowgirl, therapy dog trainer, stereotypical INFJ, and Army girl to the core. Her first love, i.e. debut novel, O to be Like Thee, swept her unexpectedly into the world of indie authors. She tries to use her stories to fill the silences in literature, helping more people understand the world of the Army and showing how God heals the broken-hearted.
MY REVIEW 5.5 Stars
I honestly didn’t know what to expect when Kassie sent me a copies of this book to not only beta read but also review. I knew from what she had been saying in her blog posts that this was going to be a different kind of story.
I was drawn into the story from page one. Stop the Rain is a book like no other. It deals with some tough topics and sensitive issues like PTSD, but it’s raw and real and touched my heart in places I didn’t expect.
Kassie’s heart for the military and for people who suffer from PTSD was spilled out on every single one of the pages contained in this novel. The compassion and love that Harley’s friends have for him show us how we should act and respond to people who struggle with PTSD. Kassie brings awareness to how everyone should know what PTSD is and how to help those we know that might be struggling.
Harley Keane seriously breaks my heart. I just want to give him a hug. I want him to know that I’m praying for him. The heartbreaking this is, there are so many other real people who struggle like he does throughout the story.
I honestly don’t care if you think that this story might not be for you. You NEED to read this it. You NEED to have awareness and understanding of the devastating effects PTSD has on people. We all need to be praying that God would give us hearts that are understanding and a desire to help veterans and others know that they are not alone and that they are loved and cared about. PTSD doesn’t just go away. We need to remember that it has lasting effects on people and we need to bring awareness to that.
I dare you to go pick up a copy of this book. Your life will never be the same!
